And The Big News Is...

WE'RE MOVING!!
Are you surprised?
Yeah, me too!
Within the last week we have gone from being content with where we live, to wanting to move, to thinking about looking for a house, to having a house fall into our laps, and then last night we gave our landlord notice of our move out.

Did you get all of that?
Let me fill you in a little better:
We moved into our rent house in the Heights (central Houston for all you non-Houstonians) this past August.
We had planned on living here for the next 3 years while I am driving to Clear Lake (30 miles) for school.
But, in April Michael started working at Jersey Village, which is 16 miles from our current house.
We were just fine with living in the middle of our two "occupation sites", but with the increase in gas prices, we have been rethinking it.
Plus, we would really like to be closer to all the youth kids, especially for the summer.
I just want them at my house, all the time.
And they won't/can't come when it is 40 minutes away.

We've also had a few problems with our current rent house.
1) Its tiny. Its pretty much a house for ants (funny enough, ants are about the only bug/rodent we haven't seen around here)
2) Its really old. Refer to the parenthesis above and that will all make sense.
3) There is only one bathroom. While it does offer free, daily marriage counseling - I'm over it! I need my space to get ready!See, I wasn't kidding!
4) Literally the smallest closet I've seen in my entire life. (even smaller than yours, Emily!)
5) Keeping with the trend of "Tiny" - the kitchen is tiny and I have no counter space. That's it for the counter. There is no more to be found outside the border of this photo.

Add all those things up and you've got 2 people ready to get outta here!
We kind of started looking around, but not too seriously because I am scared to add any more time to my hour drive to school.
Then Michael found out that the church owns a house and they are trying to sell it.
After a bit of asking around we found out that it is a great (BIG) house, in Cypress, a little dated, but clean and so well kept.
Michael did what anyone would do and asked if we could rent it.
The answer was yes - you can rent it for the low, low price of FREE!
Um, hello, sign me up!
Their only request is that we make the house look good (keep the yard and inside pretty) and hopefully it will sell!
Yes, I think we could make that happen!
However, we do have to be ready to move out if/when it sells.

Its crazy, I know, but we are so excited about this new adventure in our lives!
Its going to be a BUSY couple of weeks trying to get out of here (especially with two visits from family) but it will be completely worth it to be in the new house by the beginning of the summer.
One of my favorite parts of youth ministry is opening my home to the kids, and I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to do that!

We can't even explain how blessed we feel to be given this opportunity!
We have definitely felt the love and support of our new church family.
This is just another way that God is showing us that this is exactly where He wants us to be at this time in our lives, and we could not be happier.

See ya never little Tabor House!

  2. I'm just catching up on all your posts! If you closet was smaller than mine... you poor soul, I'm crying for you! Also I'm so impressed that you and Michael both made it out alive from sharing a bathroom. Now that's love and devotion!:)
