Waiting and Waiting

I think I have mentioned that Michael and I are in the process of buying the house we live in.
The house we have lived in for over a year now.
All that is left is Closing.
It was supposed to be last week.
We had to reschedule.
Then it was supposed to be today.
They needed proof we have lived here a year, but they didn't think to ask until yesterday.
(I told Michael to just give them this blog address, but he didn't seem
to think that was what they were looking for.
So now, we are not so patiently waiting for them to reschedule, again.
Unfortunately, I leave for OKC tomorrow, and won't be back until late on Monday.
Then I start work.
I just want to close on the house, so we can get our new floors already!
And I am just so angry at those bank people right now.
I guess this is just a little reminder that things don't always go my way.

I'll just get back to watching my new show now.

Getting Cultured

Saturday night Michael and I got the opportunity to enjoy a little bit of culture.
A sweet couple at church gave us their tickets to the Houston Symphony
because they were out of town, and we loved it.
We got all dressed up,
My new necklace that I'm kind of obsessed with
went downtown,
and we had incredible seats.
3rd row.
Center.
Incredible!
It was the Houston Symphony Pops concert,
and the theme was Hot in Havana.
The first half was just the symphony, combining classical music with Latin music.
We absolutely loved the first half.
After intermission it went a little downhill.
There was a Cuban band, and they were really close to us, and loud,
and it just wasn't our favorite.
So we left before they did their encore...
and went to Steak and Shake.
We can only handle so much class in one evening, you know.
I hope everyone had a great long weekend!

Fair and Aware

Spending a couple days in Galveston was just what we needed.
We stayed at a hotel on the seawall,
but this was as close as we got to the beach.
It was super windy, and our hotel had a great pool, so we passed on the sand.
Even without the beach though, our time there was perfect!
On the road to Galveston
Pool time
Dinner at Salsa's
Breakfast at IHOP
Reading by the pool
(Don't worry about how red my leg looks, the filter I used on the photo did that)
However, I did get a little bit sunburned.
Not bad for me though.
Speaking of my skin, I had the weirdest experiences with strangers regarding my skin while we were there.
2, yes 2, old men came up to me and said,
"You're really pale/fair, do you have sunscreen?"
I mean, I fully aware of my paleness, but I have never had someone else point it out to me.
It was very strange.
And after the second guy (who was really concerned) we decided to leave.
Other than that, it was the perfect little break.

Happy Memorial Day!

Beach Break

After having people in our home for 3 out of 4 days this week,
and after the craziness of Senior Weekend,
Michael and I are headed to the beach for a short break.
Summer starts in exactly 3 days!!
So, we are going to take a little vacay, and prepare ourselves for the non-stop of summer.
If you need us, we will be here.
Okay, maybe not exactly like there,
but at least something like this
Either way, it is going to be relaxing, and awesome!
Happy weekend to you!

Senior Sunday

Like I mentioned in my last post,
this past Sunday we honored all the graduating Seniors.
Michael got to preach the morning sermon, and present the seniors with Bibles.
We had a slideshow, potluck, and a reception.
And Michael started a new tradition to commemorate the seniors each year.
At Memorial, the kids would paint their hand print on the walls - which we loved.
However, there really isn't a place in our building to do that,
plus we wanted it to remain even if the walls didn't
so Michael had the idea to use a big picture frame.
It turned out great!
He will put the group photo in the middle, and then hang it on the wall in the youth wing,
adding a new frame each year for the senior class.
Here are some other pictures from the day.
And here is the JV Class of 2012!
We are so proud of all of them!

Tea Time

This past weekend was what I refer to as Senior Weekend.
Yesterday we honored the graduating seniors at church,
and on Saturday I invited all the Junior and Senior girls and their mothers over for tea.
This was my first time to host an party like this,
but I think it is easily going to become an annual event.
I spent all week setting up, and decorating,
and I have to say that I was more than pleased with the outcome.
Actually, I was in love with the outcome.
I could not have hosted this tea party without help from SO many people.
All the food (except the muffins) was prepared by the Ladies Bible Class at church,
and all the hats came from my best friend Sarah and her mother.
The tea kettles, and some of the cups were provided by a sweet lady at church,
and most of the table decorations came from the shower closet at church.
And lastly, I could not have done it without these two wonderful women.
They spoke to the Mothers and Daughters and delivered a great message about the importance of that relationship, and how to keep it strong while separated from each other during college.
The party was a huge success, and I am already looking forward to the next one!
Enjoying the tea and brunch
Mother Daughter (Newlywed) Game
All the tea party guests
Lastly, here is a picture of me at the tea party.
(Mostly for my Mom!)
*Ideas for tea party pretty much all inspired by Pinterest.
You could call them 'Pinspired'
What did we do before that glorious site?

Weekend Parties

As I mentioned before, this past weekend was a little busy.
We had two parties to attend on Saturday:
Oliver's 4th birthday party, and my friend Tara's wedding.
Unfortunately, one started an hour after the other and they were 40 minutes apart.
:(
We only got to spend about 20 minutes at Oliver's birthday party,
but we had a lot of fun in that short amount of time.
I really wished that
A) I hadn't been in a dress
and B) that we could have stayed longer because that gym was awesome!
I can't believe that Oliver is already 4 years old!
He has grown up so fast!!

We didn't get many photos at the wedding, but here are a few
The lighting just wasn't working with us in that room.
It really does look better in black and white.
 Downtown Guthrie

And lastly, we had a little engagement party for Bailey and Jon.
We just wanted to give them a little something to let them know that we are excited,
and ready to get this wedding started!
It was a crazy weekend, but I'm so glad we were able to be there all the festivities.
The only person who didn't have a great time was Daria, the cat.
Buster had a great time chasing her though!
