Friday's Five

It has been way too long since my last Friday post.
Things are finally starting to slow down around here (at least for this week)
and I'm hoping to get on another blogging spree,
and catch up with some of the things we have been up to.
There is no better way to do that than to summarize the past few months into 5 main points.

1) Feeling Fresh
Hydrangeas are my absolute favorite.
Especially fresh ones.
And even more when they are in my new white pitcher.

2) Welcome Wreath
I made this little wreath for Claire's most recent wedding shower.
For her and Trey to hang on their door and welcome people into their new home.
Did I mention that I love hydrangeas??

3) Celebrations for Claire
Did I also mention how much I love this girl??
Her wedding day is getting so close, and I am getting more and more excited!!
This picture is from her shower at Memorial,
where her and Trey opened gifts for an hour and a half without stopping.
They are already so blessed, and I know their marriage will be too.

4) Wedding Wishes
This was the most special gift given at Claire's shower.
A note written by her late Nana, sending her beautiful wedding wishes
from many years ago.
So special.

5) Gangstas

This is currently one of my favorite pictures.
Michael is just adorable.
He is one good-looking gangster.

Happy Weekend!!

Friday's Five - Christmas Ramblings

1) Christmas Treats:
Whether its baking with best friends or family, or just making treats for party,
I absolutely love all the fun Christmas-themed treats.

2) Oh Christmas Tree
Specifically my Christmas tree.
It is my very favorite part of the season.
I will be devastated when the lights stop working.

3) Fancy nails and cake pops
I was feeling adventurous at the nail salon and tried a party nail.
I kind of like it.
Also, this salted caramel cake pop.
So YUM!
Get to your local Starbucks and get one, quick!

4) White Ice Christmas
^^ Michael took this beautiful picture of my parents neighborhood.
Now that we live in a tropical climate,
it makes me so happy to have a white Christmas.
Especially when the roads are still clear.
Even though it is mostly ice, it is absolutely beautiful Enid.

5) My Old House
This has nothing to do with Christmas, but everything to do with being home for the holidays.
Michael and I were on the west side of town earlier this week,
so I took him by the house that I grew up in.
We lived here from the time I was born until I was going into the 5th grade.
So many memories were made in this house, and on this cul-de-sac.
It looks completely different now, but also still the same.

Friday's Five

1) Hair Dresser
A couple weekends ago I got to spend some time with one of my favorites from our old church.
She is the most beautiful girl, and her inside is even better than her outside!
She had asked me to do her hair for homecoming, and I was a little nervous,
but it helped knowing she would look great no matter what.
Here is how it turned out.
I had no idea what I was doing.
But I was pretty pleased with how it turned out,
and she absolutely loved it!
^^ Told you she was a beauty!
I had so much fun doing hair, and catching up with this sweet girl.

2) Happy Pumpkins
As you saw in my decorations post, I love cute Halloween.
I don't like scary,
but the happy pumpkins, witches, and bats are perfect.
It helps that this guy doesn't ever rot too!

3) Fall weather
The weather here has been just perfect this week.
So perfect that Buster has gotten to go on a walk every day.
And one day twice!
On one of the walks with Michael I kept commenting about how blue the sky is!
It screams fall and it is just stunning against the green trees.
So I took this picture while on a walk with Buster.
I could live with this weather for awhile.
Knowing Houston though, we'll be back in the 90s in no time!

4) Days with my boys
Michael and I got to spend all day together today and it was perfect!
We started with a trip to the hospital to pray over one of our teens going in to surgery (all went well and he is at home recovering!)
Then we went to a South African restaurant for lunch.
We bought a Groupon for this place about a month ago and it has been driving Michael crazy that we hadn't used it - so we decided to go.
It was delicious.
Next, the nail salon.
I was way overdue for a mani-pedi, and so happy to get some pretty fall color on my nails!
We ended the day by taking the little Bub out in the car to run some errands.
Nothing is better than spending a day off with my guys!

5) Friday Night Movie
^^ The newest addition to our movie collection
One of my childhood favorites!
*During a part when Ariel when up to the surface Michael became confused and asked, "Does she have gills or lungs??"
I told him Disney does not go into that sort of detail.
Haha!

Happy Weekend!
And BOOMER SOONER!
Beat Texas!

Friday's Five

Another title for this post could be: Recent iPhone Images
There has not been a whole lot of activity from us lately.
Michael is winding down the summer (Woohoo!! Back to schedules!)
and I have been working to build my client load, which is going well!
Here are a few things we've been doing:

1) Getting some sun
While Michael was away I spent quite a bit of time laying out and reading books.
Buster even joined me for some of it, but he has a much lower tolerance for heat than me.
Something to do with a thick black coat.

2) Baby Luke
Also while Michael was at camp, I went to Katy and spent a day with these two.
This is Claire's cousin's son Luke.
He is a cutie!!
We had so much fun running errands and playing with him during the day.

3) Flowers
These are my "sorry I'm leaving for another week" flowers.
The good news is, Michael is finished with trips...until next Summer!

4) Books
I went to Barnes and Noble to buy a book on Stepfamilies.
I walked out with these.
Notice: none of these are about Stepfamilies.
I instantly forgot the reason I came as soon as I walked in the store.
I did find the planner that I have been wanting and looking for though!
Its the most amazing planner!
I've been looking online for at least 3 months, and couldn't find it.
Then I go to B&N and they have an entire table to choices.
So happy!

5) Birthday Girl
This girl is officially turning 21 tomorrow!!
I can't believe she is going to be a real legal adult.
I still remember the birthday when she got her driver's permit!
Love you so much Claire, and hope your day is so special!

Friday's Five

1 - Flowers
My sister and brother-in-law gave me a gift card to Hobby Lobby for graduation and I finally got to use it!
I have been waiting for these beautiful burlap flowers to go on sale, and they finally did.
I love them!
I've also been surrounded by these beautiful paper flowers!
We are doing the Garden of Eden for VBS, which means LOTS of flowers!

2 - Animals at our house
I walked in to our bathroom the other night and found this little guy.
Thankfully, he was on the outside!
I thought it made for a cool picture though.
Then there's little Buster.
He is very sad without his Mikey.
But he has been the best little cuddle bug.

3 -Weather App
I always judge people who post pictures of their weather app,
but this was too good to resist.
This is the difference in the temps where Michael is, and where I will be.
Yikes!

4 - PowerPoint
I was going through old photos and found a copy of the PowerPoint Michael made for me.
Its a joke with our family because he 'presented' this to my entire family...
the first time he met them!
Talk about crazy!
But that is so Michael, and I am so glad he is mine!

5 - Packing
For VEGAS!
These are dresses that I'm taking.
But, the rest of my suitcase consists of these very same colors.
Mint. Coral. and even Black.

Friday's Five

1) Our new mailbox
Michael has been asking for a new mailbox for at least a year.
I looked them up online once and they were about $300, and I was not going to pay that.
Then, I just happened to walk down the mailbox aisle in Lowe's, and they were much cheaper, so I bought him one.
And our brother-in-law Jon helped him put it together while he was here.
We LOVE it!
It looks perfect with our house, and it is usually a race to see who gets to check it each day.

2)Kabobs
We grilled these for Memorial Day.
I found a great tutorial on YouTube, and another one for steakhouse baked potatoes.
Both were delicious.

3) Youth Group Photos
I take lots of photos at every event I go to, and put them on the youth group photo board.
We change it every May and August.
In May, we put up all the photos from the school year.
I went up to the church last week and spent the afternoon putting all the photos up.
It was so neat to come out of my Wednesday class and see them all huddled around trying to find pictures of themselves.

4) Fruit Pizza Bar
I had a jewelry party this past week and this was what I chose to serve as a snack.
It was SO easy, and delicious.
I have made fruit pizza with a giant sugar cookie, but thought this would be perfect for the party.
Thank you Pinterest for all your great ideas!

5) Snow Cones!
Got my first snow cone of summer yesterday and it was delicious!
Bahama Bucks just opened down the street from our house, and its probably going to get me in trouble.
I mean, they even have a drive through!
I'm seriously debating trying all the flavors that they offer.

This is the last weekend before Summer starts and we are going to be very busy.
Tonight we are taking our small group leaders out for a "thank you" dinner,
and tomorrow we are going with a group to Galveston for the Sand Castle Building Competition.
Then on Sunday we promote our new 6th Graders in to the youth group!!
It's almost officially summer!!

Friday's Five

1) Birthday lunches
Last week my birthday crew finally got to celebrate Helen's Birthday.
We ate a delicious cafe in Houston where the basil sauce was to die for.
YUM!
I'm so happy that I have these ladies as friends - what treasures!

2) Puppy
I'm just going to go ahead and predict that this little guy will always make it into the Friday Five posts.
He is just too cute!

3) I'm almost a GRADUATE!
9 days and I will be sporting this thing!
Hopefully sans a few of those wrinkles.

4) Tea Time
Tomorrow is the Junior Senior Mother Daughter Tea!
I am so excited!
The decorations are coming together, and the food is arriving.
And, best part...

5) My Mom is here!
We have already gotten our nails done and bought 4 pairs of shoes collectively.
I'd say the trip is already very successful!

Happy Friday to you!

Friday's Five

Walking under a beautiful rainbow.
This was part of the decorations at the JV Ladies Retreat last weekend.
I have never been to a ladies retreat, and this was a great first experience.
The speakers were excellent, and so relevant, and I got to spend time with the wonderful women at my church, and get to know some of them much better.
It was a wonderful weekend!

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt.
Yum!
My original plan was to get a snow cone, but those places were closed, so I settled for yogurt.
The fruity pebbles were a great choice!

How excited was I to delete this app?!
Super excited!
I only have one more week of internship and then I will have a whole month off!!

My middle school girls.
We talked about Wisdom on Wednesday, and one of the other teachers (who actually prepares for class) had this craft, and she let me piggy-back on that idea.
Aren't they so cute?

Last but not least, this gem of a photo.
You gotta love the Throwback Thursdays...and those glasses, and my dad's hair.
Priceless!

Friday's 5 Photos

Remember the pollen problem I told you about last week?
I was serious.
These were Buster's paws after about 10 minutes outside.
Gross.

Anyone else take dressing room pics?
Nope?
Just me?
Cool.
Usually I reserve this for Target, and then I text them to Michael who is in Electronics to see what he thinks about it.
I've recently started taking pics at other stores too, and it really helps me to think through the purchase.
In this case, I said no to the dress (bad fit, cute stripes though) and big time YES to the blazer.
I just love Kohl's.

Thanks for the support Lindsay.
That is all.

Last weekend we were invited to dinner by a family from church,
and we FINALLY got to meet their pet chicken!
That's right, I said pet.
Her name is Clucky, and she is 9 years old.
It was pretty awesome.

Isn't this cake adorable?!
One of my friends at church has her own at-home bakery,
and this week she did a Tiny Cake fundraiser for some of the teens that are going on Wilderness Trek this summer.
This is the cake I bought for my internship site (and future workplace!! Eeeekk!!) Shield Bearer.
Fighting for Hearts is our motto, and my coworkers LOVED it!
Plus, the cake was completely delicious!

*Hope you enjoyed the blog's newest addition - Friday's Five Photos.
It may not happen every Friday,
but I hope it will help me to take and post more pictures!
