Date Night

Yesterday's photo topic was self portrait
Probably my least favorite so far.
I just don't love being in the photos.
That's all.
We had planned to go see The Vow last night,
but got a last minute invite to see Tim Hawkins and Bob Smiley's comedy show.
Now, I have seen Bob Smiley many a times at Camp Uplift.
So, I was not that excited about him.
He really surprised me though and was completely hilarious!
Especially when he made a joke about baptists drinking...and we were sitting in a completely packed First Baptist Houston.
Perfect!
Tim Hawkins was really great too!
The best part was getting to spend time with some friends from Memorial that we haven't seen in a while.
I'm so happy that those relationships continue even when we are at a new church!

Today's photo was makes me happy
Date nights make me happy!!
(Don't tell Michael I cut his hair out...he's sensitive about it)
For our date tonight Michael got us a reservation at Painting with a Twist.
It is a place where you get instructed on how to paint a certain painting step by step.
Here we are all smocked up.
They make it pretty easy.
Our painting is called "Starry Night Over Houston"
Here is the before.
And here is the process.
It was a 3 hour class.
I've never thought I had ADD until this class.
I got so bored!
It really is a fun thing to do, but 3 hours is a LONG time.
Somehow we managed to make it through.
And here is the rest of our class.
Please refrain from comparing our to the others.
And lastly, here is an up close view of our painting.
Not terrible,
but definitely not awesome.
That huge building is just bad.
And I don't want to talk about it.
But really, Painting with a Twist...its a great date night!
And I'll take any date night that doesn't involve 20 plus teenagers!

Vintage and Classic

Have you seen the new Jason Wu for Target line??
If you haven't by now, then I'm sorry to say, but you won't be seeing it in your closet.
It came out this past weekend.
I went last night and barely got my hands on 2 shirts in my size.
That is literally all that was left.
Here are some of the pieces from his line.

 He even has accessories.
And here is the shirt that I got...in two colors. Ha!
(Gotta get what you can, right?)
I would suggest running, not walking, to Target and getting whatever you can grab.
For real.
Do it.

The topic for the photo today was front door
This is the front door to our brand spankin new clinic at school.
I spend every Thursday night here, and get my therapy face on.
Happy weekend!!

Buttons, Suns, and Photo Apps

The topic for yesterdays photo-a-day was button
so I chose to take a picture of one of the most important buttons in my life.
Those of you that have one, you know what I'm talking about.
Its my Keurig machine.
Michael got it for his birthday last year, and it has more than paid for itself.
Making coffee is super easy.
There is literally no clean up (other than throwing the k-cup away)
And we can both choose whatever flavor we want.
Its incredible.
Today's topic was the sun.
I was hoping to be a little more creative,
but getting a good shot of the sun is a little difficult.

In other news:
I bought my very first iPhone app.
I have TONS of free ones on my phone, but I've never paid for one.
I have been wanting to turn my photos into collages, and finally found a good app for it.
Its called PicFrame.
You can pick how many photos you want.
The layout of the photos.
You can adjust the size of the photos.
You can change the color of the borders.
I'm a little obsessed with it right now.

VIP Valentine Banquet

Saturday was the VIP Valentine Banquet put on by the youth group.
What are VIPs?
Well, I actually have no idea what it stands for,
but I do know that the banquet was for everyone at our church 55 or older.
So yes, the VIPs are what you would call elderly
(Sorry Mom!)
The youth girls made the heart decorations
(placemats and silverware holders)
And the high school girls and myself set up all the decorations.
 Isn't it beautiful?
And festive!
The kids were so great at interacting with the VIPs, and serving them the entire day.
It was so special to see the two groups together.
First, we served them a delicious Italian lunch.
Then we had a time where the VIPs shared about their faith, their marriage, and any advice they had to give the youth kids.
And we ended the afternoon with Bunco.
It was a wonderful afternoon!
I'm so proud of all of the youth kids and the servant hearts that they have.
I just hope that when I'm old-er I will have kids like them that want to spend time with me.

Dinnertime

Monday nights are Bible Study Nights at our house.
We used to have them at the church building, but started having them at our house in October,
and I have been so happy.
I just love getting to have the teens come over every week!
I love it when they show up early.
I love it when they walk in the front door without knocking.
And I really love it when they stay late (unless Gossip Girl is on ;)
But really, I love it all.
I usually try to serve some kind of yummy snack,
but since we had SO MANY leftovers from this weekend,
we all got to eat dinner together tonight.
Which went perfectly with the February Photo-a-Day Challenge,
since today's topic was dinner.
Here we all are eating together.
Yes, that is a plastic table.
No, we do not have one that will seat more than 4 people.
No, I do not plan to buy one anytime in the near future.

After everyone left, I decided that I would start trimming our trees.
The weather was absolutely beautiful today, and I needed to get these babies cut down before its too late.

I'm pretty proud of myself!
And, I only have about 6 more that left to trim. :)

Hearts All Around

This weekend was completely full of church/youth events,
bit I did not forget about my photo challenge.
The topic on Friday was hands.
My hands were tying lots and lots of bows on Friday night while helping the Sr High girls decorate for the Valentine Banquet.
Here is the finished product.
So pretty and festive, right?
(More on that later...)
Saturdays topic was a stranger.
This one was a little tricky.
Luckily, we went out to dinner and I stood behind this girl
And I really liked her coat.
So, it worked out!
And today's topic was 10:00am
and I was at church getting ready for worship to start with these guys!

In other news:
Friday night, our church showed the movie Courageous.
Michael and I saw it in theaters, and thought that it was really good.
A little cheesy and not the best acting, but so touching, and a very good message.
And tonight, Michael preached his second sermon.
The crowd was a little small due to a football game or something, but he did great and didn't seem nervous at all.
I hope you all had a great weekend too!!

Words To Live By

Today's photo topic was "words".
My day was completely full of words.
Textbooks, writing case notes, taking lecture notes, following the traffic signs...
but none of them felt like the write words for my picture.
Then, as I was reading along with the JV Youth weekly Bible plan I found them.
This is one of my favorite passages in the Bible.
And, if I were to use one passage to describe the past year of my life,
it would be these.
Proverbs 3: 5-6.
There were so many times that I was unsure of the future.
Or unsure of how things were going to work out.
Or if they were even going to work out.
And this scripture is what I would instantly think of, and be comforted by.

The interesting thing about this verse is that I sometimes want to hurry up and skip to the end.
The part where my paths are straight and everything is perfect.
I tend to forget about the first part.
That is what I have been working on over the past year (and probably much longer, and will continue much longer)
Trusting Him.
Leaning on Him, instead of my own understanding and plan.
And giving Him the praise for all He has done and is doing.
How great it is to know that we only have to do those 3 simple things, and God is going to take care of us.
What a powerful, mighty, and righteous God!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
